The objective of the inspection was to assess the status of the Court specifically to establish how access to justice is being delivered in Kaberamido. Among the concerns raised by the Chief Magistrate were lack of transport means, lack of furniture for one of the court halls, lack of staff uniform, power fluctuations, inconsistent water supply and lack of a functional internet connection. There was also a security concern because the court has only two guards, one for daytime and the other for the night.
During the Inspection, the Chief Magistrate among other things reported that the court has a work load of 27 cases for the Chief Magistrate’s Court and 153 cases for the Grade One Court. A total of seven cases were categorized as backlog. Strategies for completing these cases within this quarter were discussed as well as sensitizing the masses on utilizing court services to solve disputes.
